TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat mimic this French photo-sharing app to introduce latest feature – Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), Snap (NYSE:SNAP)

  • Big Tech’s social media titans are mimicking the two-year-old French photo-sharing app’s BeReal functionality.
  • BeReal invites users to take and share a quick photo, and tops app graphics once a day with an experience that prioritizes spontaneous connections over image-conscious curation, reports the Washington Post. .
  • BeReal uses the phone’s front and rear cameras simultaneously.
  • ByteDance Ltd ICT Tac unveiled a new feature called TikTok now which will give users daily prompts to share impromptu photos or short videos using the phone’s front and back cameras.
  • Meta Platforms Inc META instagram already confirmed to be working on a similar feature, Candid IG Challengesweeks later Snap inc. INSTANTANEOUS Snapchat launched its dual camera mode.
  • “The fear of the incumbents is that this will become the next TikTok”, Bernstein said analyst Mark Shmulik. “So they all rushed to launch their own version” in hopes of getting rid of a competitor before it went mainstream.
